Helena Lee is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who is also trained in EMDR. Helena has a special interest in women’s issues related to life transitions, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, depression, and anxiety. She also enjoys working with adolescents, couples, families and new parents from diverse cultural backgrounds. She believes that the client’s growth is best supported through a therapeutic relationship that is authentic, respectful, and empathic. She holds a MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University. While a student in the program, Helena was twice selected to be a Teaching Assistant. She holds a BS in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a former spinal cord rehabilitation and critical care nurse.
Helena is a graduate of the Gestalt Equine Institute of the Rockies and a certified Gestalt Equine Assisted Psychotherapist. She is passionate about bringing clients in to contact with horses, and sees this as a powerful modality in the treatment of a wide range of issues, including depression, self-esteem, attachment and anxiety. Helena sees her equine clients at Horsefeathers Therapeutic Riding Center in Lake Forest, IL.
