This week is my 3rd Anniversary as a psychotherapist at Urban Balance! Happy Anniversary to me!
Without sounding like an infomercial for Urban Balance, I want to take this opportunity to sing the praises of the single best organization I have ever worked for!
I have held many fascinating jobs in my many decades on this planet. Before becoming a counselor, I was a school teacher, receptionist, clown delivering balloons, farm worker on an Israeli kibbutz, nanny, and even ran a lemonade stand as a kid.
In my 40 years as a family and addictions counselor, I have worked in hospitals and clinics and private practice. My work has been diverse and exciting and challenging. I’ve had good jobs and bad jobs. Jobs that were fulfilling and jobs that made me pray to win the lottery and quit!
About four years ago, I went to a lecture and heard Joyce Marter (CEO of Urban Balance) speak. I was so impressed with her intelligence, vision, and compassion that I said to her:
“I want to work for you!”
I meant it as a sincere compliment and not necessarily a serious career choice, but eventually I did come to work at Urban Balance. What I found was a group of highly qualified practitioners who were not only hard-working and dedicated to their profession, but also genuinely kind and loving human beings.
I work at two beautiful offices with great colleagues. I get to concentrate on my gifts as a psychotherapist while a very talented and helpful auxiliary staff take care of all of the extras. Everyone involved in intake and nilling and insurance and office procedures has consistently worked hard to help me, and been amazingly patient when I sometimes screw up.
If you are a counselor looking for an excellent place to work, you will love working at Urban Balance. And if you are a person looking for a fantastic therapist at a convenient office that takes your insurance, check out Urban Balance! We have over 100 exceptional counselors at many locations in and around Chicagoland plus an office in St. Louis.
Thank you, Urban Balance! I love this job!
