Therapist Spotlight: Anika Hannah, LCSW

Anika is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Behavioral Health Officer in the Army National Guard. She will work at our St. Louis-Clayton location, which will be opening shortly in September! Anika received her MSW from Washington University in St. Louis, where she concentrated on Children & Youth with an Expressive Arts Therapy specialization. You can read her full bio here!

What self-care techniques or activities do you do?

Cultivate presence, meaningful connection and meditation. Swimming, fiber art, singing and writing help me to maintain balance.

What made you become a therapist?

It was the occupation that seemed to enable me to manifest what came naturally to me combined with an awe for how interesting and unique each one of us truly is!

What are your specialties?

Infertility, members of the adoption triangle, EAP, military population, LGBT.

Why do you believe that counseling can help?

Because it contributes to self-awareness which, in the best case scenario, can lead to healthier relationships and ultimately improved quality of life.

Did you have a career before becoming a therapist?

Before becoming a Social Worker I worked as Administrative Support in the Investment Banking industry.

Why is it important to seek counseling?

It fosters personal growth.
