What self-care techniques or activities do you do?

Travel, play with my dog, eat delicious foods, spend time with my family and read. Spending time by the water is also balancing and a self care practice.

What made you become a therapist?
I have wanted to be a social worker since I was a child. I am the oldest of 7 adopted children and I grew up with social workers coming to the home. I have always had a heart for the “underdog” and those who are suffering in some way. The suicide death of my brother was another influential factor.
What are your specialties?

Mood disorders, relationship issues, trauma, as well as sexual and identity issues.

Why do you believe that counseling can help?

Because there is always hope and the capacity for change.

Did you have a career before becoming a therapist?

Being a mom to my 4 kids. I have basically “grown up” as a social worker and person simultaneously, as many of us do.

Why is it important to seek counseling?

Solutions to problems are found through relationships, including the relationship between therapist and client.
