Alison Thayer is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Employee Assistance Professional who has worked with adults, adolescents, couples and families since 1997. She has worked in a multitude of settings ranging from corporate and academic environments to community mental health agencies. Alison offers a collaborative, goal-oriented approach while providing a supportive environment that empowers clients to make effective changes in their lives. She maintains an integrative style building upon the client’s strengths, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy methods to help her clients achieve growth and tangible results. Her specialties include anxiety disorders, depression, relationship issues, occupational issues, life transition issues, work/life balance and substance abuse. She is skilled in corporate trainings, Critical Incident Stress Management services and management/supervisory consultation. Alison received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Alison is also the Executive Clinical Director at UB and has provided clinical supervision to interns and therapists since 2000.
