Alissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in working primarily with adults and couples. She earned her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a focus in Marital and Family Therapy. Alissa draws on her experience as a Certified Yoga instructor and uses an integrative, collaborative approach with emphasis on what is best for each client and their needs. She believes in helping her clients get back to the basics of self-care and views clients holistically using a mind, body, and soul therapeutic approach. She is also experienced in the use of meditation and mindfulness strategies to help clients learn to bring awareness to their body and to pause before reacting in their lives. Her clinical interests include working with women experiencing women’s issues, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum difficulties, grief/loss, or parenthood transitions.
In addition, her interests extend to life transitions, identity development, anxiety, depression, work/life balance, and relationship issues. Alissa has received her level 1 training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Level 1 training in Dr. Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and uses a trauma informed approach for her clients. Alissa is passionate about providing a warm space that makes every individual feel heard, cared for, and not alone. She strives to help her clients regain balance and wellness in their lives.
