Karen Loethen, LCSW
Karen Loethen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys working with adults and adolescents through individual, couples, family, and group therapies. Karen earned her master’s degree in Social Work from St. Louis University’s School of Social Work in 1994. She has worked in the addictions field, in community mental health, inpatient and outpatient, in a full-Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) milieu, dual diagnosis, and case management.
To address the goals and needs of each client, Karen uses components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focus, and elements from a variety of other Client-Centered and Humanistic schools of practice. Karen is a member of the Secular Therapist Project, she is trained in EMDR trauma treatment, and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
Her clinical interests include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, life transitions, parenting, adoption triad issues, relationship issues, self-harm, eating disorders, addiction, trauma, mindfulness, self-esteem and self actualization, and religious/spirituality-based concerns.
