Kim McManus is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Master’s of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago Jane Addams College of Social Work. Additionally, Kim is a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Health Coach. She has over 25 years of experience working in both direct clinical and leadership capacities in a variety of settings including: child welfare, therapeutic days schools, employee assistance programs, community mental health, and private practice. She currently works with adult individuals and couples who are experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship stressors, and life transitions. She believes that “people get better in many different ways” and takes a client-centered approach. Thus, her clinical orientation stems from a variety of evidence-based modalities such as the Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Harm Reduction, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing.
Kim also firmly believes that wellness is rooted in a balance of mind, body, and spirit and encourages clients to cultivate and foster healthy lifestyle behaviors to promote mental wellness. She is a culturally competent therapist who values and respects cultural differences and actively integrates the knowledge that she has learned thus far to increase a sense of safety, support, and understanding for clients from all backgrounds.
