Sergio Hernández is a bilingual (English/Spanish), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and registered yoga teacher, with over 5 years of experience working with adults, adolescents and children in outpatient and community mental health settings. Sergio believes in one’s innate ability to heal and bring about meaningful change through innovative, tailored interventions that help cultivate mindfulness and self-awareness. Sergio strives to help clients recognize patterns that underlie psychological or emotional distress, and to provide symptom relief. He employs a strengths-based approach, drawing from person-centered, Humanistic/Existential, Cognitive Behavioral, trauma-focused and Psychodynamic approaches. He has experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting issues, stress and anger management, gender/sexuality/LGBTQ and self-esteem issues, as well as complex and trans-generational trauma, substance use, grief and loss, and domestic violence. Other areas of interest include immigration and assimilation/acculturation issues, yoga-focused therapy, Eastern philosophies, and organic living.
