Susan Clauss is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Missouri Recovery Support Specialist (MRSS) who enjoys working with adults, adolescents and children through individual, family, and group settings. She earned her Master of Education in general counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Susan has worked in schools, direct service agencies, community collaborations, and private practice settings during her career. She has experience with a wide range of clients struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, family of origin issues, interpersonal conflict, stress management, anger, trauma, parenting, and career decisions. Her style is client-centered, strength-based, interactive, and LGBTQ+ allied. Susan believes every person is the expert in their life and has the innate ability to overcome the challenges they face. Susan works to create a safe space for growth, learning, and change, while incorporating humor, insight, and compassion. Susan relies on Motivational Interviewing to allow individuals to identify and achieve their own goals, while also drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, mindfulness and other approaches.
