Susan Lloyd is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience helping individuals on a variety of issues including addiction, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, LGBTQ+ identity/coming out, career transitions, grief/loss and health concerns. She received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and has worked in corporate, higher education and hospital settings. Susan is amazed by what therapy can bring to someone’s life and has experienced this personally and as a practitioner. She offers an empathetic and warm approach focused on creating an environment of honesty, encouragement and safety to access deeper aspects of oneself to live a more full life. She views therapy as a collaboration where you work together to build upon your personal strengths and resources to heal from loss, trauma or emotional difficulties and to let go of old habits and behaviors that are no longer helpful. Susan works from relational, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches to best meet client goals.
Susan has completed an Externship in Emotionally-Focussed Therapy (EFT) with Dr. Sue Johnson in Toronto, Canada. She is also Certified in Assessing and Treating Sexual Issues in Psychotherapy by the Institute for Relational Therapy. Susan is a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) and an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)-trained clinician by the International Association. EMDR is effective for treating trauma, other distressing experiences (PTSD, anxiety, depression and panic disorders) along with negative belief patterns.
