Urban Balance is committed to supporting causes and organizations that our therapists’ are passionate about. This month, we donated funds to PAWS, Chicagoland’s largest No Kill humane organization that helps homeless pets find loving homes.
UB Therapist Aaron Karmin, LCPC provides information about PAWS Chicago and the importance of their services:
PAWS Chicago inspires me every day as Chicago’s largest no-kill shelter. The shelter is state-of the-art and cageless. PAWS is such a great advocate for animals and ensuring that the animals will find great homes. Every step of the adoption process is wonderful in making sure that both the animal and adopting person will have the resources to thrive. All of the staff is well educated and want nothing but the best for all of the animals which is very apparent. PAWS Chicago also provides a wonderful temporary home for dogs and cats of families in crisis through their dedicated network of foster homes. Families in crisis can focus on rebuilding their lives, knowing that their pets are safe and cared for until they are able to stabilize their living situation.
Pets are very beneficial to people’s health. Not only are they fun — they do say that laughter is the best medicine! — but they can also help people lose weight, decrease stress and depression, and improve their overall health and wellness. I think it is important that we do our part to stop animal cruelty. I cannot say enough wonderful things about PAWS and how fortunate I am that such a great organization exists!
