Welcome Joanna Taft, LCSW to Urban Balance!

Joanna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, life cycle changes, grief and loss, adjustment to illness, caregiver fatigue, and work-life balance. Joanna believes in normalizing the therapy process and that all individuals can benefit from a therapeutic relationship at different points in life. In Joanna’s experience, an open, collaborative client-therapist relationship allows clients to feel better equipped to set and achieve their personal objectives. Many people find that working with a therapist can help provide insight, improve relationships and family dynamics, and help to develop strategies for all types of life challenges. Using a strengths based perspective, Joanna uses psychodynamic theory to guide her practice. Joanna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Kenyon College and a Masters of Social Work at Loyola University – Chicago. Joanna’s clinical experience includes hospital-based social work, specifically within a medical intensive care unit. In that setting, she provided supportive services to patients and families, crisis management, and solution focused therapy to individuals experiencing acute illness.

Joanna will be working from our new South Michigan office, as well as our Evanston office. To schedule an appointment with Joanna, please contact our intake department.

Urban Balance prioritizes the safety of our clients and staff and will provide teletherapy counseling services.
