Dr. Manasa Perera is a licensed clinical psychologist who received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She has experience working with children, adolescents and adults. She has worked in long term care facilities, community mental health centers, and substance abuse treatment facilities. She has experience treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse and severe mental illness. Her training was based in cognitive behavioral therapy, which is based on the premise that our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all intertwined, and that by working on changing the way we think, our feelings and behaviors will change accordingly. She takes a collaborative approach with her clients, treating therapy as a team effort, and encouraging the client take the lead. Dr. Perera’s clinical interests include trauma and substance abuse.
